Canada Announces New Express Entry Categories for 2025 to Address Labour Shortages

The Immigration Minister announced category-based draws for Express Entry 2025 to find workers for Canada’s most urgent sector vacancies. Canada now selects Express Entry candidates who worked in the country through the Canadian Experience Class stream as part of its new strategy. The system helps temporary residents move toward Canadian permanent residency while Canada targets specialized professionals in great demand.

Government workers who do well in French exams can join this initiative when they also have healthcare or education work experience or traditional trade background. People who are professionals in medicine, dentistry, construction, plumbing, and teaching can join through this program. By adding an education category Canada makes its immigration system better match up with its future labor needs.

We will now select people who need their French-speaking skills in Canadian jobs and help grow the economy by accepting Francophone immigrants outside Quebec” Miller explained. The announcement confirms that the government will welcome qualified workers based on market demand and workforce advances.

Immigration authorities updated the system because they want it to respond faster to economic changes combined with selecting workers who are ready to integrate into Canadian society.
