The heated debate over the new migration policy proposed by the opposition Conservative Leader, Friedrich Merz is now leading to the protests at diverse cities in Germany which concerns the rising influence of the AfD and the potential erosion of democratic values. This clashing viewpoint has now led to the mobilization ahead of the 2025 Federal Elections which is scheduled on February 23, 2025 after the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition government.

According to the provided details, people of Germany have been leading rallies in many cities against right-wing extremism and political cooperation. The expected participants in Munich and Bremen are 75,000 and 30,000 respectively. The previous week around 250,000 participants marched from the Reichstag building to the CDU party headquarters.

“The heated debates in the Bundestag about the Union’s Migration policy have mobilized all political camps and thus led to a zero-sum game in the polls”, according to the report given by the election researcher Matthias Jung.

Meanwhile the board member of the election research group said, “The protests against the Union are above all a self-assurance for the corresponding sections of the electorate. But they also generate a counter-mobilization, which overall leads to this stability in the polls”.

The election campaign for the Federal Elections 2025 has been intensified after a recent knife attack by a rejected asylum-seeker, prompting Merz to propose strict migration laws. Also, his cooperation with the AfD sparked national outrage.
