DOGE announces shocking facts about US unemployment insurance claims

Unemployment insurance in the US helps people get financial assistance if they lose their job and the fault is not theirs. States set eligibility rules for unemployment benefits. There is no federal unemployment programme as each state takes care of its respective cases.

To qualify for benefits, most of the US states require that the person:

1. Earned at least a certain amount in the last 12 to 24 months

2. Worked consistently for the last 12 to 24 months

3. Looking for a fresh job

But the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has just announced shocking results of an initial survey of unemployment insurance claims since 2020. It has been found that someone holding a birthday in 2154 claimed $41,000.

1. 24,500 people more than 115 years old claimed $59 million in benefits

2. 28,000 people in the age group of 1-5 years claimed $254 million in benefits

3. 9,700 people holding birth dates more than 15 years in the future claimed $69 million in benefits.

This announcement is making global headlines, and many netizens are expressing shock. One of the users on X said: “If I’m a taxpayer … I’d be pissed !!”. “This is beyond outrageous. People born in 2154 collecting unemployment,” another commented.
