Elon Musk Plans To Launch His Own University In Texas, Pledges $100 Million

Elon Musk, the wealthiest person in the world, is planning to build a school and eventually a university in Texas in the United States, according to a new report. Elon Musk has also pledged USD 100 million. 

According to tax filings viewed by Bloomberg, Elon Musk has donated $100 million to a charity that plans to launch a school in Austin, a city in Texas. According to a report in Forbes, Musk Foundation will seek accreditation from the Georgia-based Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges for building the Elon Musk University.

Elon Musk has not yet provided details about the school and university. Elon Musk University aims to employ “experienced faculty”. Students will be selected merit-based. 

According to the filing posted online by Bloomberg, the program will be “focused on teaching in STEM subjects” with an initial enrolment of about 50 students. 

What to expect?

Elon Musk University aims to educate students at the highest levels. The university will be funded through tuition and donations and offer need-based scholarships to meritorious students.

He will first set up schools for younger students. Later on, he plans to launch the university. His ideas will cater to elementary school through high school-age children.

Initially, the school will be “tuition-free” but will provide need-based scholarships if it implements a tuition.
