Like many people, Bernard shared the shock of suddenly losing his job one Friday morning on LinkedIn. His post simply highlighted that he lost his job at GM at 5:07 am via email, besides 1,000 other employees globally.
This post grabbed the attention of a recruiting guy in Kenosha, Joel Lalgee. He made his viral video on Bernard. But it’s not the LinkedIn post that caught Lalgee by surprise. It’s actually Bernard’s education and experience.

Joel Lalgee noted in his video that Bernard had been an employee at General Motors “literally longer than I have been alive.” “That is literally a lifetime of loyalty to be let go,” via email. Bernard, a resident of Royal Oak, lost his job last month.
Many companies are currently struggling to gain loyalty from employees, Lalgee highlighted, adding that he has been hearing comments all the time about numerous younger ones not feeling it right to stay in one place too long.
“Companies ask for loyalty, but they are really not giving that type of treatment back,” said Lalgee – host of a podcast called “Recruiting is No Joke”. He stressed that companies simply sending out mass emails should try to be more empathetic to employees.
