Enhancing Protection and Placement: Indonesian Migrant Workers in Focus

The government has serious concerns about how to safeguard and efficiently place Indonesian migrant workers. Ida Fauziyah, the minister of labor, has emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts from numerous ministries and agencies to enhance the management of migrant worker placement and protection. As a result, the administration plans to issue a presidential instruction outlining particular roles, responsibilities, and powers in this area.

Presidential Instruction: A Blueprint for Collaborative Action

The administration is preparing to publish a presidential instruction in an effort to simplify the management of Indonesian migrant workers. The tasks of each ministry, organisation, and level of government, from the central to the village, are described in full in this instruction, which will act as a thorough blueprint. The goal is to promote coordinated, cooperative activity targeted at improving migrant workers’ placement and protection.

Roles and Responsibilities Defined

The duties of various parties concerned will be fully described in the next presidential order. For instance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Migrant Workers’ Protection Agency (BP2MI) will be in charge of problems pertaining to worker placement issues, recruitment agreements, waiting period acceleration, and recruitment permit issuing. Additionally, village administrations as well as the provincial, district, and city governments will work together to disseminate information about employment prospects and worker protection.
