India’s Internet Users Set to Cross 900 Million Milestone in 2025

The use of the internet in India is experiencing steady growth in a very short period with internet users estimated to reach 900 million by 2025, according to a study done by IAMAI and Kantar. According to the statement, the current user base is at 886 million in 2024 with 8 percent year-on-year growth, for which rural India with 488 million users is contributing heavily.

This report also aims to show a considerable increase in regional language, down to 98% for Indic content. When it comes to content consumption the market leaders are Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. This research shows that the rural areas are the most active in OTT video streaming, and social network usage, among other digital activities. The actual gap of digital gender is closing because 47% of Internet users in the country are women.
