Infosys layoffs: Indian IT giant continues job cuts after February layoffs of 350 employees
Indian IT giant Infosys recently fired 45 trainees at one of its offices in Bengaluru after they failed to clear internal assessments despite three attempts. This comes after the company laid off as many as 350 employees back in February.
Earlier, Infosys let go of 700 employees – hired 2.5 years ago but onboarded in October 2024, according to a report in Financial Express. It has been reported that these employees failed to pass the company’s internal assessments.
But many employees have raised serious concerns about the difficulty level of the examination being much higher than previous tests. Some said they had not been informed of the negative marking in assessments.
Infosys justified the terminations by stating that clearing the test is essential to maintaining the high quality of talent available for its clients. The Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued a notice to Karnataka’s labour commissioner.
