Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has been in the limelight in recent days. His abrupt removal from the OpenAI board two weeks ago, then his return at the company, gained a lot of attention from the tech world and media sector.
Recently, a report accused him of being a “psychologically abusive, toxic, and horrible” boss. Employees at OpenAI suspect this was the reason why he was fired earlier from the company.
Sam Altman, who swiftly returned to the CEO position at OpenAI after his ouster, has been accused by several employees as a “psychologically abusive and toxic” boss.
Reports have surfaced online, alleging toxic, manipulative and double-crossing behavior by Sam Altman, including attempts to get a co-worker fired from the company.
According to a report by the Washington Post, several employees accused Sam Altman of being “psychologically abusive” and “toxic” at the workplace.
Citing unnamed sources, the Washington Post reported that Sam Altman was fired from the company because of his toxic behavior.
Various employees lodged complaints with the OpenAI board, accusing Sam Altman of being “psychologically abusive.” Reportedly, these complaints played a significant role in the board’s decision to fire Sam Altman from the company.
He was also accused of lying to the OpenAI board in an attempt to have another board member, Helen Toner, ousted from the company. He asked other board members to have her fired.
Despite his reinstatement as CEO of OpenAI, the aftermath has left lingering questions about the work environment at the company.
His exit from OpenAI shocked the tech world. Later on, he joined Microsoft as a lead of an advanced AI research team. Consequently, nearly 740 out of 770 employees at OpenAI threatened to quit if the board of the artificial intelligence company didn’t bring back Sam Altman.
This is not the first time that OpenAI fired its CEO. Elon Musk, a co-founder of the non-profit, was once OpenAI’s co-chair. However, he left the company over disagreement with the board members.
