Israel-Palestine Conflict: Pro-Palestinian Rally Condemned

A pro-Palestinian rally has divided people in the US, with some politicians describing it as abhorrent and morally repugnant, while others believe “resistance is justified when people are occupied”. Hamas’ Saturday Operation Al-Aqsa Flood took Israel off guard and found weakness and loopholes in Israeli defenses.

The Palestine militant group a barrage of rockets into Israel from land, sea and air a largest such assault on Israel in decades. Hamas said its strike is a response to the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence. It invaded Israeli towns along the Gaza border and killed at least 700 people and wounded thousands.

Democratic Socialists of America Stands Up for Palestine

Meanwhile, rallies are being taken out across a divided world, either Pro-Israel or Pro-Palestine. In the US, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) took out a rally in Time Square. It blamed Israel saying “Today’s events are a direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime, a regime that receives billions in funding from the United States.”

Thousands of pro-Palestinians chanted “Resistance is justified when people are occupied”. The DAS said the rally was for showing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to resist 75 years of occupation and apartheid.

Rep. Cori Bush, a Democratic Socialist, believes to achieve a just and lasting peace, everyone must do their part to stop this violence and trauma by ending US government’s support for Israeli military occupation and apartheid.

Pro-Israel Rallies

Pro-Israel protesters have taken to cities and streets in the US, waving Israeli flags and condemning the Hamas. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, New York Rep, condemned the attacked with the strongest words. “No child and family should ever endure this kind of violence and fear, and this violence will not solve the ongoing oppression and occupation in the region. An immediate ceasefire and de-escalation is urgently needed to save lives.”

Pat Ryan, Hudson Valley Democratic Rep., took to X saying Hama terrorists massacred hundreds of Israeli civilians, including women and children. “They took dozens more hostage, including Holocaust survivors and American citizens. To know all this, and choose to hold a protest in New York City, home to the largest Jewish population in the US, is blatant anti-Semitism.”
