Job alert: Tesla paying $48 an hour to train its Optimus humanoid robots…

Tesla is taking significant steps in its quest to develop humanoid robots, named Optimus, by recruiting workers to help gather essential data. The company led by billionaire Elon Musk is offering up to $48 an hour for roles that involve collecting movement data to train Ai powered robots designed to handle work in Tesla factories.

The job listings describe the positions as data collection operators. The workers will wear motion capture suits and virtual reality headsets to stimulate the movements that the robots would be ultimately made to perform. As per the job listing applicants have to walk 7 hours per day and have to have a height of 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches to hear motion capture suits. The pay for this job will vary from $25.25 to $48 an hour, roughly translating into INR 2000 to INR 4000.

Vision Behind Optimus;

The Optimus Project that Tesla introduced in 2021 is part of a broader push toward automation in industries where labour shortages and the need for efficiency has essentially become urgent.

These robots are designed to take over tasks that are considered unsafe, repetitive, or just plain boring for human workers.

Despite the excitement in the project, there have been quite a number of roadblocks. When Tesla first unveiled a prototype of the robot called Bumble C in 2022, the response was mild. Some experts were not moved expecting more from the EV company known for spending big bucks on its projects.

Still Musk boosted the R&D wing and as per reports the results are showing now. The human robots are being able to do autonomous tasks now in the labs of the Tesla Facilities.

Challenges and Competition Ahead;

Musk has high hopes on the Optimus project but he has some good speed breakers ahead. He projects that the robotics market is going to have a staggering $25 trillion in the coming future. That is far beyond its current worth.

But he is not solely speeding ahead in this lane. Robotics company Figure is backed by Amazon owner Jeff Bezos and Microsoft who have teamed up to look into making a futuristic product that can challenge Tesla’s Robotics monopoly space.

Figure already has struck deals with Germany based car manufacturing giant BMW giving quite a hell of a competition to Musk’s boys.

It is to be seen when Musk’s dream project gets reality and by what margin it succeeds to make a good public impression.
