Elon Musk, the owner-CTO of X (previously Twitter), has slammed the presidents of Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) over violence against Jews in their respective campuses.
Harvard’s Claudine Gay, Penn’s Liz Magill, and MIT President Sally Kornbluth have come under severe criticism on social media for not calling out the genocide of Jews and tolerating antisemitism in their respective campuses.
Elon Musk, who himself was accused of anti-Semitism a few weeks ago, blasted the three heads of the universities for not calling out the genocide of Jews.
Israel-Hamas conflict triggered by Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel has increased reports about antisemitism across the world.
Last week, Chuck Schumer, United States Senate Majority Leader, said that Jewish people are living in “deep fear.” Chuck Schumer warned that the hate attacks against the Jews students in the United States had become a “five-alarm fire that must be extinguished.”
He expressed concern over the dangerous spike in attacks on Jews. He further said that the rise in antisemitism threatened the safety of Jews across the world and the future of Israel.
Recently, Harvard’s Claudine Gay, UPenn’s Elizabeth Magill, and MIT’s Sally Kornbluth testified for several hours before the US Senate after protests over the Hamas’ Israel attack roiled campuses across the US.
Republican lawmaker Elise Stefanik said, “Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate the rules of bullying and harassment?” During the hearing, the presidents of all three universities said that they won’t tolerate antisemitism on their campus.
Elon Musk also jumped in on the debate. He wrote on X, “Let me help them out here: Calling for the genocide [death] of anyone obviously constitutes harassment.”
Harvard’s Claudine Gay, Penn’s Liz Magill, and MIT President Sally Kornbluth came under severe criticism on social media for not explicitly saying that calling for the genocide of Jews constitutes a violation of their harassment policy.
