These changes will lead to 396 job losses. However, top officials of the company promised that most of the impacted employees will be absorbed within the organization.
As such, along with the 17 stores, Morrisons Daily, which aims at localized and convenience extension hours, will also be formed in the restructuring. Morrisons runs approximately 1,600 of these smaller stores alongside nearly 500 larger supermarkets. It is noteworthy that these closures were a reaction towards significant increase of cost as the least valued for customers have been identified among those stores, counters, and services that were shut down.
