ola, uber score 0 out of 10 on treatment of gig workers, urban company tops ratings
Surveys about the best places to work tend to focus on white-collar employees. The focus areas are generally the account perks, life balance, etc. On new survey has provided some light on how Indian companies are treating their temporary workers. These are the backbone of the company, but still getting ignored.
Recently the rating of Fairwork India 2022 has released, and the top 10 startups in India scored 0 out of 10. The focus was the temporary workers. FarmEasy, Amazon, Uber, and Ola all scored 0 Urban Company, which scored 7 out of a possible 10 topped on the board.

The Report 2022 was centered on five areas Fair Conditions, Fair Contracts, Fair Management, Fair Pay, and Fair Representation. These all points are interconnected if one point is fulfilled then the other will automatically be fulfilled. But this year no platform receives 10 points. Not a single company followed the areas. So the maximum score is 7.
The company Urban scored 7 out of 10 and topped the ranking list. Flipkart (5/10), Swiggy (5/10), Bigbasket (6/10), Zomato (4/10), Porter (1/10), etc. but the Ola, Uber, PharmEasy, and Amazon Flex all scored 0 out of 10.
This is because the Urban company deals patiently with temporary employees. These companies also trained their employees, and the process is quite easy compared to Indian companies. After the pandemic, many companies did not put the workers majorly but the Urban companies cared for them. The rating clarifies that startups have scored 0 in the rating. Card But India’s economy Startups have created new job opportunities which did not exist earlier.
