Labour rights due to AI threatening job security

In a study, IMF researchers have investigated how AI will affect labour rights worldwide. While many studies stated that AI could replace jobs, it is also likely that AI is likely to work alongside humans. AI can influence nearly 40% of global jobs. While automation affects the day-to-day tasks, the impact of AI extends to highly skilled jobs, which means that advanced economies face more job risks from AI. In developed economies, AI can influence around 60% of the jobs. About half of the jobs will benefit from AI, while the other half of the jobs can witness the work being taken over by AI, which will reduce the demand for labour, decreasing employment, and lowering wages. In many cases, jobs will disappear entirely. The increased use of artificial intelligence has resulted in growing concerns about its impact on labour rights, employment discrimination, and job security. However, many countries have started to develop laws and regulations to use AI in the labour market.
