putin signs major decree to make russia 'safe haven' for foreigners
A new decree was signed Friday by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It says Russia will open its arms to foreigners who are less than fond of liberal Western ways. It says these people can come to Russia if they want to live with what Putin calls “Russian moral values.”
The new rule makes it easier for foreigners to be in Russia for some time. They don’t have to know Russian or pass any examinations on Russian history. Russia will soon issue a three-month visa to people.
He believes some would want to leave countries that have different ideas than Russia. Elsewhere, he speaks of “destructive neoliberal ideas.” Russia touts its “traditional spiritual and moral values.”.
Some Americans who are strong believers in the right wing are quite pleased to hear this news. They believe Russia stands better than Western countries in many aspects. The same people often appreciate Russian society on the internet.
Even some famous Americans have nice things to say about Russia. Former President Donald Trump was a huge fan of Putin. Tucker Carlson, the former TV personality, recently said that Moscow was nicer than American cities.
Although Putin has been praising these Western countries, he frequently speaks negatively about Western countries. He calls many Western ideas “satanic”, saying that they are opposed to traditional values. He feels that Western countries are ruining family values and other things that society holds close.
The new law is a way for Putin to present Russia in the most favorable light as a haven for those aghast at Western ideas. He wants to draw a line that there is another country different from others and cleave to what he calls traditional values.
