Stellantis layoffs: Global automaker takes big decision after CEO’s departure

One of the most popular automakers globally, Stellantis has reportedly decided to stop the earlier decision to lay off some 1,100 employees at its Ohio Jeep plant. It comes after the sudden departure of CEO Carlos Tavares.

Stellantis has apparently decided to issue an employee adjustment notice instead, and people can return to their jobs as early as next year. It is one of the biggest global automakers and is behind popular brands such as Jeep, Ram, Fiat, and Peugeot.

Stellantis layoffs making global headlines

Media reports suggest the board at Stellantis had not been happy about the chief executive officer’s tough goals for sales and cost reductions, in addition to his relationships ith the company’s suppliers, dealers and unions.

Earlier, Stellantis announced some 400 job cuts at a plant in Detroit. The company had also stated that it is going to lay off as many as 2,450 employees at a factory in Michigan due to the discontinuation of production for the Ram 1500 Classic truck, as per Latestly.
