Suspect in Tesla Cybertruck blast identified as US Special Forces agent
The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded on January 1 outside the Trump International Hotel has been identified as a US Special Forces operations master sergeant, a senior enlisted rank, according to four US officials.
Livelsberger had been on leave at the time of the incident, the US army said the next day but did not specifically say he died in the explosion. The US Social Forces bill themselves as an elite fighting force specialising in unconventional tactics abroad.
Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a press conference that the suspect shot himself in the head prior to the blast that injured seven people. He said authorities are not identifying Livelsberger as the person found inside the Cybertruck.
McMahill said he’ll come back after getting confirmation through DNA or medical records. But he also said that authorities “have confidence that this is in fact the same person” because the body in the Cybertruck had a couple of tattoos, that Livelsberger also had.
