
Tech Sector Hit by Nearly 30,000 Layoffs in Early 2025
RationalFX data reveals 100 tech companies across the world terminated 29,537 jobs during the first three months of 2025. The technology sector of America cut its workforce by 20,000 personnel because Silicon Valley keeps streamlining its office personnel.
Companies are making workforce cuts now because of how they built their teams during the pandemic and economic threats plus they use more AI programs to reconfigure their organizations. Manufacturing units inside tech industries especially electric vehicles had lower computer parts companies and semiconductor factories lost employees during these layoffs.

- STMicro (Geneva, Switzerland) – 3,000 employees
- Onsemi (Phoenix, AZ) – 2,400 employees
- Microsoft (Redmond, WA) – 2,280 employees
- Amazon (Seattle, WA) – 2,100 employees
- Workday (Pleasanton, CA) – 1,750 employees
- Cruise (San Francisco, CA) – 1,050 employees
- Salesforce (San Francisco, CA) – 1,000 employees
- eFishery (Bandung, Indonesia) – 1,000 employees
- Blue Origin (Kent, WA) – 1,000 employees
