Tesla Faces Labor Allegations from German Union Over Sick Pay

The IG Metall union claims Tesla operates its Berlin factory illegally by punishing employees who rest due to health conditions. In its Friday announcement, the union reported Tesla stopped paying salaries to sick workers and pressures them to surrender their right to medical privacy.

Reports suggest Tesla management led by Elon Musk checks past health records afterward to reduce worker pay because of claimed payment mistakes. The company pressures ill employees to decide on ending their employment relationship according to its terms. The data shows that the Tesla factory workforce faces a higher 21-fold rate than others in requesting labor union support for workplace conflicts.

Tesla faces major market operations problems in Germany after starting a downward trend in January. During the night of Thursday to Friday police in Berlin traced the simultaneous fires in Tesla cars to what they suspect was a political act.
