These entities are open and closed on Donald Trump's Inauguration Day and MLK Day
January 20, Monday, is both Inauguration Day and Martin Luther King Jr Day. Back in 1983, President Reagan signed a bill marking the third Monday of January as MLK Day. The King’s birthday falls on January 15.
The Inauguration Day, on the other hand, falls on January 20 each time after 4 years. The Constitution states that the term of each elected president begins at noon on January 20 of the year after the election.
This year, both Inauguration Day and MLK Day are falling on the same date – just like the time for former President Bill Clinton’s 1997 inauguration and Barack Obama’s 2013 ceremony. This time, all post offices across the country are going to remain closed.
In terms of the stock market, the NYSE and Nasdaq remain closed on each Martin Luther King Jr Day. Most of the banks in the US are closed on Monday as they pay attention to the Federal Reserve holiday schedule.
Most public and private schools across the US are going to remain closed on Monday for the holiday. Most stores and restaurants, on the other hand, are expected to remain open. Keep an eye out for more updates.
