This business tycoon and billionaire has something to say about work-life balance

Work-life balance has turned into a serious topic of discussion for many in India and abroad. Business tycoon and billionaire Gautam Adani recently highlighted that work-life is balanced if you do things that you like doing.

“If you enjoy what you do, then you have a work-life balance. Your work-life balance should not be imposed on me, and my work-life balance should not be imposed on you. One must look that they at least spend four hours with their family,” he noted.

Narayana Murthy and Shark Tank India figures talk work-life balance

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has made this topic more important through his earlier comments about India’s work productivity. He has suggested that India’s youth should commit to working extra hours to compete globally.

Murthy has also made a suggestion to return to a six-day workweek and extend working hours. But his comments triggered intense ourage on social media. There has been another instance that has brought the term into the limelight again.

Recently, Namitha Thapar and Anupam Mittal from Shark Tank India engaged in a heated exchange on India’s work culture, particularly the idea of a 70-hour workweek, further fueling the discussion about work-life balance.

Employers could lose talent if they fail to respect work-life boundaries

Is work-life balance a myth? Not necessarily. Indeed recently found that 88% of Indian employees are regularly contacted by their employers outside of working hours. 85% of people reported that such communication also happens during sick leaves.

Nonetheless, 81% of employers are concerned about losing top talent if they fail to respect work-life boundaries. But urgent project needs, deadlines and stakeholder communication continue to pose serious problems for employers, they noted.
