In Tapah, a sad event happened at Sungai Kenjur, Kampung Poh, Bidor. Aszura Bani, 37, lost her life in a sudden water surge. She was at a local eatery before this happened. Noraini Maswan, 44, who works there, shared Aszura’s last words about wanting to eat her curry noodles again.
A water surge is a sudden and powerful flow of water that can occur unexpectedly, often in rivers, streams, or coastal areas.
It’s like a big wave or a rapid increase in water level that happens quickly, without much warning. This can be caused by heavy rain, a dam release, or other natural events.
In the tragic incident you mentioned, Aszura Bani and her family were caught in a water surge while having a picnic near Sungai Kenjur, Kampung Poh, Bidor. This sudden and strong flow of water likely caused Aszura to be swept away by the current, leading to her drowning.
Aszura was a regular customer. She liked mi kicap kuah kari and often came with her son, Hafiy Muhayat Azam, who is four years old. Both were part of this tragic incident.
On the day of the accident, Aszura was having a picnic with her three children, her sister Aslinda Bani, 38, Aslinda’s son, and their Indonesian helper. The water surge happened around 4 pm.
Sadly, Aszura drowned. Later, they found a young boy, probably her son, at 9.45 pm. Aslinda, her son, and the helper were safe.
Aszura’s sister-in-law, Ainur Radin Mustapha Amiruddin, 51, spoke about the family. Last week, Aszura, her husband Azam Radin Mustapha Amiruddin, 46, and their kids visited their grandmother in Bidor. They went there twice because the kids missed their grandma a lot.
Azam couldn’t go to the picnic because he was busy. He lost his wife and three children in this tragedy. Ainur hasn’t seen Azam yet, as he went to the hospital and she doesn’t know how he’s coping.
This morning, the search team found two more bodies of children. They think these are also victims of the water surge.

In such a situation of water surge, the water can rise very quickly and with great force, making it difficult for people to escape or swim to safety.
This is more dangerous, especially in areas not usually prone to such events where people might not be expecting or prepared for them. This is why water surges are so dangerous and can lead to loss of life, as sadly happened in this case.
