The prison guards, known as the inspectors in the United Kingdom decided to inspect something known as Harmondsworth. This is where individuals wait and see whether they will be allowed to remain in this country or not from the government. The inspectors were quite offended by what they discovered, they described it as being the worst that they had ever come across in a place like this.
Poor Structure of Buildings, Increased Intensity of Fighting and Drug Entities
According to the inspectors, the facility is in a very poor state, many of the buildings are dilapidated. They also observed that there were high cases of counter-aggression among individuals dwelling on the said premises. These people were taking drugs and such a situation does not commonly prevail in such establishments. They could sniff marijuana and could see individuals using it in plain sight. The workers there did not attempt to prevent this.
More People Trying to Hurt Themselves
The inspectors found out that many people had tried to kill themselves at Harmondsworth. This is very serious. The center wasn’t doing enough to help these people or to make the place safer. For example, they hadn’t removed things that people could use to hang themselves, even though they had been told to do this before.

The center was putting two people in rooms meant for one person. This was to fit more people in. If someone didn’t want to share, they were taken to a separate area and kept there until they agreed to share. This isn’t a nice way to treat people.
Not Enough Workers and Uncertain Future
The center didn’t have enough workers. Also, the government was thinking about changing who runs the center. This made it hard for the people in charge to plan for the future or hire new workers.
Head Inspector Very Worried
Charlie Taylor, the person in charge of all the inspectors, was so worried about what he saw that he wrote a letter to the person in charge of the government department responsible for Harmondsworth. He told them about all the problems, but he didn’t get an answer.
