United Nations workers killed in Israeli attack in The Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) workers have been killed in an Israeli attack in The Gaza Strip. Amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, civilians are suffering in Israel and The Gaza. On the 11th day of the war, a shocking revelation has shocked the entire world. 

In a huge blow to workers’ rights and human rights, about 17 UNRWA employees have been killed in The Gaza. The 13,000 UNRWA employees are terrified because of the Hamas-Israel war. 

What happened to UNRWA workers?

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) workers are afraid for their lives because of the ongoing conflict. They described the situation as a hellhole, a spokeswoman for the UN agency said.

The 13,000 UNRWA workers in The Gaza Strip include teachers, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, warehouse workers, logisticians, technicians and drivers. It is the largest United Nations agency working in Gaza.

Juliette Touma, UNRWA Spokeswoman, told reporters that workers are tired. UNRWA workers reportedly told the authorities, “Get us out of this hellhole. This has become hell.”

Around one million Palestinians live in UNRWA schools in the Gaza Strip. The UNRWA has lost 17 workers because of the Israeli attacks. Several UN workers have also been displaced since the start of the conflict between the Hamas fighters and Israeli forces.

The situation has deteriorated because UNRWA schools are running out of food, water, fuel and essential supplies. Since 7 October, the UNRWA and UN workers have not been able to bring in any supplies.

According to sources, desperation, frustration and exhaustion among UNRWA workers have specifically increased because of the ongoing conflict.

Israel-Hamas conflict causes humanitarian catastrophe

The Israel-Hamas conflict has caused a humanitarian catastrophe in the region. Israelis and Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and Israel are facing the consequences of the conflict. 

UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) has said that children and women are also suffering because of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Catherine Russell, who currently serves as Executive Director of UNICEF, said, “Many children have been killed or injured.”The President of the United States, Joe Biden, said that Hamas beheaded 40 babies.

A spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said that Hamas raped various Israeli women. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said, “Women, children and toddlers as well as elderly were brutally butchered in an ISIS way of action.”
