US Energy Department planning to bring back the 300 fired Nuclear Staffs
A huge layoffs took place under the Trump administration officials of the Department of Energy which was around 300 employees on Feb 13, 2025 aiming to reduce the workforce. It caused a series of disruptions among the employees after receiving the immediate termination notices without prior information earlier. Recognizing the impact of their decision, the DOE has paused the layoffs and is actively seeking to reinstate the affected staff.
The National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) found difficulty to rehire some of the nation’s top nuclear specialists after these massive layoffs which forced them to rethink their decision of firing the NNSA employees. The sources which were quoted on the CNN states,
“There is a good probability that most or all probationary employees who were fired could return”
The NNSA administrator, Teresa Robbins underscored the orders which they have received from the organisations and there it was mentioned to revoke the termination of these probationary employees. Their deterred access to the agency’s network and internal IT systems will be reverted back.
“Congress is freaking out because it appears DOE didn’t really realize NNSA oversees the nuclear stockpile. The nuclear deterrent is the backbone of American security and stability” added the source.
